History of Prudence Lodge No. 35

Prudence Lodge No. 884 I.C. (Irish Constitution), located in Otta, Ogun State, Nigeria, received its Warrant on 3rd March 1982 and was formally Constituted on 23rd April 1983.

For many years, the idea of establishing a Grand Lodge of Nigeria was widely discussed across the various Masonic jurisdictions in the country. During these deliberations, the Home Grand Lodge of the Irish Constitution announced that it had no objection to its daughter lodges joining with the Scottish Constitution to form the new sovereign Grand Lodge of Nigeria.

In accordance with this decision, Prudence Lodge No. 884 I.C.—then a daughter lodge of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Nigeria (Irish Constitution)—transferred its allegiance to the newly formed Grand Lodge of Nigeria, where it now proudly bears the charter number 35.
