A Ceremonial Milestone Marked with Tradition, Unity, and Renewed Commitment to Masonic Ideals

The serene atmosphere of Freemasons’ Hall, 18 Morgan Street, Off Olaleke Taiwo Street, Ojodu-Ikeja, Lagos, came alive on Monday, 3rd November 2025, as Ososi-Iwoye Lodge No. 56 on the roll of the Grand Lodge of Nigeria (GLN) held its annual Installation Ceremony. The highlight of the event was the formal installation of Worshipful Brother Anthony Eniola Martins as the new Worshipful Master for the 2025/2026 Masonic year.

The event drew Brethren from within and outside the Province, distinguished visitors, Past Masters, and well-wishers, all gathered to witness the elevation of a Brother known for humility, discipline, and unwavering dedication to the Craft.


A Ceremony Rooted in Masonic Tradition

The afternoon began with the Lodge being properly opened in due form, followed by the entrance of dignitaries and Installing Officers. The Installing Master, accompanied by the Provincial officers, conducted the ceremony with precision and reverence—reflecting the deep traditions that define Freemasonry.

The ritual work, beautifully delivered, emphasized the values of leadership, service, integrity, and brotherly love, which the Worshipful Master is expected to uphold throughout his tenure. Brethren observed moments of profound significance as the working tools of the degree were presented and explained, symbolizing the responsibilities that accompany Masonic leadership.

When Worshipful Brother Anthony Eniola Martins was finally placed in the Chair of King Solomon, the Lodge erupted in warm applause, acknowledging both the honour bestowed upon him and the trust the Brethren have in his leadership.


A Leader with Vision and Service at Heart

In his inaugural address, Worshipful Brother Martins expressed deep gratitude for the confidence reposed in him. He reaffirmed his commitment to:

  • Upholding the ancient traditions of Freemasonry

  • Strengthening unity and harmony within Ososi-Iwoye Lodge No. 56

  • Promoting Masonic education and mentorship among younger Brethren

  • Deepening community outreach and charitable activities

  • Ensuring regular and efficient Lodge management

He emphasized that Freemasonry is not merely ceremonial, but a living commitment to moral improvement, charity, and brotherhood. The newly installed Master pledged to steer the Lodge with fairness, sincerity, and a renewed spirit of collaboration.


Investiture of Officers

Following his installation, Worshipful Brother Martins invested his new set of officers for the year—each selected for their competence, dedication, and willingness to serve. The investiture marked the formal beginning of a new administrative year for the Lodge, with officers charged to support the Master in both ritual and administrative duties.


A Gathering of Distinguished Brethren

The ceremony was enriched by the presence of eminent Brethren from sister Lodges across Lagos and beyond. Their presence highlighted the strong bonds Ososi-Iwoye Lodge No. 56 shares within the wider Masonic community.

Representatives from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Nigeria Western conveyed their goodwill, encouraging the Lodge to continue its tradition of active participation, charity, and exemplary conduct.


Charity as a Pillar of the New Master’s Agenda

True to Masonic values, Worshipful Brother Martins announced his intention to champion initiatives that will positively impact the community. He reaffirmed that charitable outreach—particularly support for vulnerable children, health initiatives, and educational efforts—will remain central throughout his tenure.

His passion for service was already demonstrated in subsequent Lodge visits, including the Lodge’s outreach to the Hearts of Gold Children’s Hospice, where support and donations were extended on behalf of the Brethren.


Banquet and Celebration

After the formal closing of the Lodge, the Brethren and guests retired to a beautifully arranged Festive Board. The atmosphere was joyful and fraternal, with speeches, toasts, and expressions of goodwill marking the beginning of what promises to be a vibrant and successful year for Ososi-Iwoye Lodge No. 56.
